Nigerian social media influencer VeryDarkMan has publicly criticised Vice President Kashim Shettima over the persistent violence and abductions in Borno State.
In a video that has gone viral online, VeryDarkMan accused the government of failing to safeguard citizens despite repeated attacks allegedly carried out by terrorists in the region.
Responding to reports that over 100 women and children were kidnapped in Ngoshe community, located in Gwoza Local Government Area, he challenged the Vice President on what actions have been taken to curb the insecurity.
“Vice President Shettima, you are from Borno State, yet every day your people are being killed and nothing is being done,” he stated in the clip.
He added that such attacks have become so common that many Nigerians have stopped reacting strongly to these incidents, a trend he describes as the normalisation of violence.
VeryDarkMan also criticised political leaders seeking re-election while insecurity persists, highlighting that Shettima’s prior experience as governor of Borno State should make him well aware of the crisis’s magnitude.
He questioned government initiatives that focus on rehabilitating captured insurgents, insisting that protecting ordinary citizens should take precedence.
The video has sparked a range of responses on social media. While some users applauded VeryDarkMan for raising awareness about insecurity, others disapproved of his confrontational tone towards political figures.
The discussion comes as nationwide concerns over security challenges continue to dominate public discourse.
