Former Chelsea star, Marcel Desailly has extended his apologies to Arsenal defender William Saliba after a significant misjudgment regarding the player’s potential in his career.
After Arsenal signed Saliba back in 2019, Desailly expressed skepticism about the centre-back’s ability to excel at the Gunners.
However, since his integration into Mikel Arteta’s first team, the France international has emerged as one of the standout defenders in the Premier League.
“I have to apologise to William Saliba, because I never saw this level of performance coming,” Desailly stated in an interview with Card Player, as reported by Metro UK.
“I looked at him when he first joined Arsenal, and I did not see him becoming a world-class player – that was a huge misjudgment.
“He has shown leadership, consistency, and he has such a high ceiling; we’ve not even seen the best of him yet and I am so proud of him”.
