The Carabao Cup is approaching its closing stages as the competition reaches the quarter-finals, with eight teams remaining in the hunt for the first trophy of the 2025/26 season.

The quarter-final lineup consists of seven Premier League teams and one from the lower divisions, Cardiff City. Cardiff will aim to extend their impressive run in the competition, but they face a tough challenge against Chelsea, the Club World Cup champions, who advanced by defeating fellow Welsh side Wrexham 2-1 on Tuesday evening.

Chelsea progressed past Wolverhampton Wanderers in a dramatic match that ended 4-3, which included a red card for Liam Delap after the team had built a 3-0 lead in the first half.

Defending champions Newcastle, who won their first trophy in nearly 56 years by defeating Liverpool in the March final, comfortably beat Tottenham 2-0 in their fourth-round tie. Meanwhile, Fulham required a penalty shootout to overcome League One side Wycombe.

Brentford completed the quarter-final lineup by facing Manchester City. Brentford secured a 5-0 victory over Grimsby, while Manchester City came from behind to win 3-1 against Swansea.
