A student from the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) was attacked with a machete, causing tension among the student body.
According to reports, the student was riding a motorcycle to the market when he was ambushed by men wielding machetes. A video shared online shows him bleeding from multiple cuts on his head, with blood streaming down his face and soaking his white jersey, which turned red.
While many have claimed that the attackers were suspected herdsmen, this was not confirmed in the video. Those filming referred to the attackers simply as “they.” Witnesses also stated that the attackers took the young man’s phone and power bank.
