Legendary Italian goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon, has named Chelsea legend, Petr Cech, as one of the best keepers he has ever played against.

Buffon, who currently plays for Serie B side Parma, said Cech was really strong during his playing days as a professional footballer.

When asked whether he himself was the best goalkeeper ever, Buffon, who has played for both Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain in the past, said (via Chelsea News): “I don’t like these things.

“I know sport and football very well, I think I have faced many strong goalkeepers, many didn’t have the same luck I had, so they can’t be judged similarly.

“Petr Cech was really strong, one of the best ever.”

Cech made 494 appearances during his time at Chelsea, recording 228 clean sheets.

The retired goalkeeper played a crucial role in Chelsea’s triumphant 2011-12 UEFA Champions League campaign, including saving winger Arjen Robben’s penalty in extra time.

Cech also won several Premier League titles during his time in England.
