A Nigerian doctor has raised serious alarm over what he calls a silent pandemic — the alleged increasing number of young female students donating their eggs for money.

He claims many of these ladies, especially in universities, are rushing to fertility centres and exchanging their eggs for small cash — all because of the harsh economic situation in the country.

In his words, “Our young ladies are selling their future children for peanuts due to harsh economic situations and everyone is silent.”

The tweet was accompanied by a photo showing a gloved hand holding a test tube filled with what appears to be a freshly retrieved egg sample.

According to him, nobody is talking about it.
