Striker Gonzalo Garcia will wear the number 9 shirt ahead of Endrick at Real Madrid this season, Onda Cero reports.
This comes after Kylain Mbappe vacated the number 9 shirt to take the number 10 shirt vacated by Luka Modric.
Recall that the number 10 shirt was vacated by Modric after the Croatian midfielder left Real Madrid to join AC Milan on a one-year deal.
Real Madrid then handed Mbappe the number 10 shirt a few days ago despite initial reports claiming that the number was up for grabs between the France captain and midfielder Arda Güler.
However, Real Madrid’s hierarchy decided that Mbappe takes the No.10 shirt for the new season.
Garcia and Endrick then emerged favourites to take the club’s No. 9 shirt from Mbappe at Santiago Bernabeu.
Endrick was expected to take the No. 9 shirt, until GarcÃa’s emergence at the FIFA Club World Cup tournament.
