Gunmen suspected to be assassins have k!lled a middle-aged man, Abdulrafiu Afegbua, popularly known as Uroy, in Edo State.

The incident occurred in Awoyemi community, Okpella, located in the Etsako East Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that Afegbua, was at home with his wife on the night of October 5, 2024, when he reportedly received a phone call summoning him to a location.

Despite his wife’s attempts to dissuade him from leaving at such a late hour, he rushed out of the house to meet his caller.

Upon reaching the agreed location, Afegbua was ambushed and shot in the chest and neck by the assailants, resulting in his d@ath.

After hours passed with no word from her husband, Afegbua’s distressed wife repeatedly called his mobile phone, but her calls went unanswered.

A search party was formed the following morning, and they discovered Afegbua’s lifeless body in a nearby bush, not far from where his motorbike was found abandoned on a path.

The spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident on Sunday, stating that investigations are currently ongoing.
