Gunmen kidnap and kill police sergeant in Delta

Gunmen have kidnapped and killed a police sergeant identified as Ifeanyi, in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta state.

It was gathered that the police officer was abducted last Thursday evening while returning home from official duty.

His corpse was later discovered in a forest on Friday.

Ifeanyi, until his death and was attached to the Eagle Net patrol team of the Ughelli Area Command.

According to a police source, the deceased’s phone number was tracked to one bush at Evwreni where he was found dead. He was shot on his neck, his hands tied.

His corpse was taken to the Central Hospital morgue on Friday night.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident on Saturday, April 29.

“The killed police officer was returning home after closing of work,” the PPRO stated.

“He was intercepted and kidnapped; later, we discovered his dead body. Search for the assailants is on, and we will see how we can get them as soon as possible.”
