Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted two wives of Alhaji Nasiru Ahmad, the chairman of Kiyawa Local Government Area in Jigawa state.
It was gathered that the gunmen invaded Kiyawa town, the headquarters of the Kiyawa LGA, forcibly gained entrance to the chairman’s residence and whisked away his two wives.
The gunmen allegedly fired shots into the air, causing panic and confusion in the town as everyone scrambled for safety.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Lawal Shisu Adam, who confirmed the incident on Saturday, stated that the abduction took place in the midnight hours of last Friday, November 3, 2023.
He explained that the abductors successfully kidnapped the victims after creating fear among the locals with their indiscriminate gunfire.
The PPRO added that no injuries were reported during the incident.
“Upon receiving information about the abduction, the state police command deployed a special police unit to rescue the victims and apprehend the suspected criminals,” he stated.
“Currently, the police, in collaboration with other security agencies and members of the public, are working towards the safe rescue of the women.”
