Gunmen k!ll two Community Volunteer Guards in Benue

Two members of the Community Volunteer Guards were k!lled in an armed attack in Mbamsorun Iwanev, Mbagen, in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State.

A Facebook user, Hrh Orsankera Afaakaa, confirmed the incident in a  post on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

During the incident, one person was reportedly abducted but later released unharmed without the payment of ransom.

According to him, Gbeleve and Amile as major crossing points frequently exploited by criminals to access the area.

He urged security agencies to pay urgent attention to the routes, which they described as security flashpoints.

Community members, particularly those residing along the Jato-Aka axis, have been advised to remain vigilant and security-conscious as tensions remain high.

The community has appealed to relevant authorities to urgently intervene by strengthening security presence to prevent further loss of lives and restore peace to the area.
