President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s planned condolence visit to Benue State was delayed on Wednesday, May 18, due to a heavy flood that submerged sections of the Lafia-Makurdi highway.

A video broadcast by TVC showed a security convoy stranded in the rising waters along the major route connecting Nasarawa and Benue states. The footage captured vehicles immobilised and security personnel assessing the situation, as floodwaters made passage impossible.

The president is still being expected in Benue to condole with victims of recent violent attacks and to meet with community leaders.
