Nigerian musician Victor Ncha Odu, widely known as Vic O, has appealed for help after a video showing him in detention emerged online.

In the clip, the singer, songwriter, and rapper who lost both of his parents a few years ago appears visibly distressed as he speaks about his situation. Vic O revealed that he has been in custody since before Valentine’s Day and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, February 16, 2026, in Calabar. However, he did not disclose the reason for his detention.

In the video’s caption, he urged fans to assist him, explaining that he cannot afford bail. The “After Party” artist was shirtless while addressing the camera from behind the cell bars, and he included his bank account details in the post, asking for financial support to secure his release.

The video has sparked a range of reactions from fans, with many questioning the circumstances of his arrest and why he did not clarify the alleged offense. One fan humorously recalled a lyric from Vic O, joking about why he would want to leave detention given his past line: if rapping were a crime, he should be jailed for it, because he is not ready to stop making music.

This isn’t the first time a Nigerian artist has been seen in distress while in custody. A few weeks ago, street-pop singer Habeeb Olalomi, popularly known as Portable, was recorded crying in detention after initially resisting arrest. Similarly, last year, musician Speed Darlington was detained following a defamation claim reportedly involving Burna Boy.
