Two-time Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, has expressed her grief over the tragic story of 13-year-old abuse victim Ochanya Ogbanje and the recent GoFundMe campaign launched in her memory.
Ochanya’s heartbreaking story resurfaced years after her death in 2018. She had reportedly endured severe abuse from her cousin and his father while living with them, which led to complications that caused her death. The renewed public attention inspired the creation of a GoFundMe page to aid the ongoing fight for justice.
In an emotional Instagram post, Hilda Baci shared her pain and empathy for Ochanya and other victims who bear similar physical and emotional wounds. She lamented that those responsible for protecting the young girl failed her, emphasizing that many others are still silently suffering.
The celebrity chef stressed that honoring Ochanya’s memory requires more than social media hashtags it demands real action and commitment to helping survivors of abuse.
Demonstrating her support, Hilda announced a ₦2 million donation to assist in securing justice for victims like Ochanya. She also called on her fans to choose two non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that will benefit from the contribution.
According to her, the gesture is meant to inspire others to take part in the movement, whether through financial support, advocacy, or professional assistance. She urged individuals who cannot donate to amplify the cause and encouraged lawyers to volunteer with the legal team handling the case.
Hilda Baci joins a growing list of public figures speaking up for abuse victims. Earlier this year, activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, also took part in efforts to rescue and repatriate underage girls trafficked abroad.
