Suspected hoodlums have attacked and injured a former Journalist, Alhaji Aliyu Hamagan, in Minna, Niger State.

It was gathered that the hoodlums, armed with knives and cutlasses, invaded his residence at 2am last week and inflicted severe wounds on his head and back.

The criminals also carted away their victims laptops, iPads, iPhones and a small phone among other valuables.

Hamagan, who was a former correspondent with Daily Trust in Niger, Gombe, Jigawa and Kebbi states, was rushed to the Minna General Hospital where he received medical care and was discharged.

The veteran journalist in an interview with newsmen in Minna expressed shock at the attack.

According to him, the assailants flashed touch light directly on his eyes during their operation and asked him to remain quiet.

“Despite the injuries they gave me, I still thank God for sparing my life. They also threatened during their operation that I should remain silent as my entire house has been surrounded by their colleagues. And, if I do anything funny, they will kill me,” he said.
