Chelsea supporters will have to watch their favourite club play without Cole Palmer for the next three weeks or a month after it was confirmed by Enzo Maresca.
The Blues’ head coach spoke at a pre-match press conference ahead of the Premier League game against Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, 27 September 2025. The Italian confirmed that the decision was taken to allow Cole Palmer to take a break and return after the international break.
What did Enzo Maresca say about Cole Palmer?
He said,
“We decided to protect Cole a little bit, in terms of don’t get worse. We decide to rest him for the next 2-3 weeks until the international break, just to see if with that rest he can recover to 100%. don’t think he needs surgery. It’s just a matter to manage the pain in his groin.”
Maresca also confirmed that Wesley Fofana will be out of Chelsea’s next three games against Brighton, Benfica and Liverpool due to needing to miss the next 12 days because of concussion symptoms, along with Tosin Adarabioyo, who will be out until after the international break.
Maresca also spoke about Robert Sanchez after the red card he received against Manchester United.
“Robert [Sanchez], for a long period of time, he was very good for us. The last part of last season, the beginning of this season he was fantastic. He made a mistake against Man United, and he recognised that. We are happy with both of them [Filip Jorgensen too].”
The supporters will hope that these injuries will not affect the on-pitch results against Brighton, Brentford and Chelsea. The Blues have secured just one win in their last four games.
