Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia has expressed that passionate kissing and hugging scenes in films are no different from other types of scenes.
Speaking in an interview with Punch, Etinosa addressed the ongoing discussions about how intimacy is portrayed in Nollywood. She emphasized that professional actors should be able to fully immerse in a role and detach from it once the scene ends.
According to her, these scenes are purely performative. She explained, “Intimacy scenes in Nollywood are just like any other scenes. Once the director says ‘cut,’ everyone returns to normal. As a professional, you need to slip into your character when required and step out of it seamlessly. When the scene starts, you act; when it ends, you detach.”
Etinosa added that kissing and hugging passionately is a part of the craft and doesn’t trigger any real emotional or erotic feelings. “Most of the time, my focus is on how the scene will appear on screen. It’s more about technique than intimacy. Even though it may seem real, I don’t actually feel anything because my mind is focused on my performance,” she said.
