Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao has broken her silence on the arrest and detention of a blogger, who was recently prosecuted for criminal defamation and cyberbullying.
In a statement shared on social media, Eniola revealed that the blogger published false and damaging claims about her following her appearance at the burial of the late Pa N.A. Adekola, father of her boss, Ambassador Odunlade Adekola.
“I arrested a blogger, known as Adabasioni, for criminal defamation and cyberbullying. He went online to make derogatory and unfounded claims against my person, following my appearance at the burial of our late father Pa N.A. Adekola. He was told to provide evidence of what he said about me and he had none, so I ensured he was detained in Ikoyi prison for two weeks,” she wrote.
Eniola added that she eventually agreed to his release after his mother and three wives pleaded with her to forgive him.
“His mum and three wives rolled on the floor and begged me passionately to forgive and let go, that was why he only spent two weeks. I pitied his mum,” she said.
The actress warned bloggers who defame public figures for clicks to take a lesson from this case, saying she is prepared to pursue legal action fully against anyone who spreads falsehoods about her.
“My mental health is seriously affected because I am extremely traumatized,” she added.
