Nigerian actress and media personality, Oluwabukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, popularly known as Kiekie, recently shared how a private moment of deep prayer in 2018 shifted the course of her career.
During an episode of the Off The Top podcast, she recounted how her fashion business was struggling at the time, leaving her feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about her next steps. The stress led her to withdraw from everyone around her.
Kiekie stayed indoors for several days, isolating herself from friends and even pretending she had traveled, just to have a quiet space to reflect and seek guidance. During this time, she remained in the same outfit, prayed continuously, and barely ate. She spent her days on the floor and in bed, crying out to God and asking for a fresh start. She described those days as some of the toughest she had ever faced.
Her breakthrough came on the third or fourth day when a woman unexpectedly called her for a sewing job. She immediately rushed to meet the client, and that job marked the beginning of a better phase in her career.
Kiekie shared: “I locked myself up for days. No food, no bathing, no change of clothes. I was practically on the floor crying. I told God, I need you to turn my life around. I hadn’t even had a bath. I just brushed and ran to Ikeja. That was the beginning. From 2018 till now, it has been fantastic, fantastic.”
Since that pivotal moment, she said her work and life have steadily grown, and she continues to enjoy consistent progress.
