Award-winning gospel singer Tim Godfrey has responded to critics who condemn gospel artistes for charging performance or appearance fees, saying many fail to understand the sacrifices and responsibilities behind their ministry.
In a recent statement, the Nara crooner shared his frustration with those who expect gospel musicians to perform for free, revealing how, in the early days of his career, he was often underpaid or not paid at all.
According to Godfrey, there was a time he received “tubers of yam and a live chicken” as honorarium after performing at a church event, an experience he described as both humbling and eye-opening.
“I once collected tubers of yam and a live chicken as honorarium. Is that what I’m supposed to use to fend for my family?” he asked rhetorically, emphasizing that gospel artistes, like others, have bills to pay and families to support.
In other news….A gym enthusiast, Ama Udofa, has sparked online discussion after sharing his frustration over how content creators have taken over gym spaces with their recording equipment.
In a post on X, Udofa revealed that during his first visit to the gym in a year, he spent more time “dodging tripods” than actually working out. His lighthearted complaint resonated with many users who shared similar experiences.
One user, Darlington, humorously commented that it’s now “a day in the life of a gym rat, left and right, center,” while another, Sharon, admitted that she avoids gyms altogether because she fears ending up in someone’s Instagram or Snapchat story.
