Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mary Njoku has expressed confusion over the high number of impressive CVs and companies still struggling to find employees.
On her Instagram page, she noted that she sees people without jobs and impressive CVs, yet companies are still struggling to hire good people.
Mary noted that most CVs are solid, well-written, and tick all the boxes, but when you sit down with the person, something doesn’t connect, and it feels like something went wrong somewhere.
The founder of the ROK studios said CVs have quietly become marketing documents, not true reflections of capabilities. According to her, titles are inflated, responsibilities are aspirational, and polish has replaced depth.

Every day, I see impressive CVs.
And every day I see companies struggling to hire e good people.
And I’m genuinely confused.
You read a CV, it’s solid, well-written, and ticks all the boxes. Then you sit down with the person… and something doesn’t connect. It feels like something went wrong somewhere in the middle.
This isn’t about intelligence or effort. A lot of people are working hard. But CVs have quietly become marketing documents rather than true reflections of capability. Titles are inflated, responsibilities are aspirational, and polish has replaced depth.
