Nollywood actress Omowunmi Dada has revealed why she once ended a relationship after discovering that the man she was dating had begun practising Islam, despite initially identifying as a Christian.
The actress made the revelation during an interview with VJ Adams, where she spoke about the experience and how it affected their relationship.
According to Dada, she met the man when he presented himself as a Christian. However, things took a different turn when Ramadan began and he started fasting.
She explained that when she questioned him about it, he told her that he was observing the fast because it would make his mother happy.
The development, however, made Dada reconsider the future of their relationship. She explained that she wanted to marry a practising Christian and raise her children according to the Christian faith.
The actress revealed that the man tried to persuade her to continue with the relationship, assuring her that he was willing to attend church with her.
However, Dada said that was not enough for her, especially because he also wanted their future children to visit the mosque and learn about Islam.
She ultimately decided to end the relationship because their different expectations about religion and how they would raise their children made it difficult for her to see a future together.

“I dated someone who when I met was a Christian and then sometime later Ramadan started and he said he was fasting. I said why and he said because that is what will make his mom happy. Being a Muslim is what will make his mom happy. There and then I knew I couldn’t be with him. I have nothing against Muslims; I have Muslim friends who are amazing people, by the way. But for the kind of family that I want to raise, I would love to raise my children the Christian way. I want to be able to hold hands with my husband in one faith, in unity as a family.”
