Former governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has warned former Vice President Atiku Abubakar against contesting the 2027 presidency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Fayose vowed to work against Atiku should he dare to contest under the PDP platform.

He made this disclosure while featuring on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Friday.

Fayose also declared that a southerner cannot become Nigeria’s president after President Bola Tinubu’s tenure.

He said: “I’m telling you that if Atiku comes again, I will work against him. It’s time to learn our lessons. Nigeria’s want to hear and make a decision and have an understanding.

“The power of a Chief Executive continues to hold life when he does not abuse the command of such powers.

“If an Asiwaju says because I’m the commander-in-chief, my ADC should shoot that man, should the ADC shoot the man? No.

“The reality is that it’s the party’s supremacy which must be equitable and responsible. Parents who are irresponsible will produce irresponsible children, they will have irresponsible situations, rebellion, and anger.

“People can say what they like, but after Asiwaju’s tenure, let a Southerner come out, I will also come out and say a Southerner can’t be president of Nigeria.”
