The Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, has announced the commencement of enhanced patrol operations specifically targeting boarding schools across the state.
The initiative was confirmed by Mr. Adetunji Adeleye, Commander of the Corps, during a press briefing in Akure on Tuesday, November 25, where 16 suspects were paraded for various offenses.
According to Adeleye, full surveillance has been mounted on schools with boarding facilities following a recent wave of concern over security breaches and kidnappings.
“In the last one week, we’ve visited so many of the schools, and mounted surveillance on all those with boarding facilities. Especially the schools in the border towns of the state and the outskirts of the towns,” Adeleye stated.
The Commander also highlighted the reinforcement of existing security measures:
1.The 24-hour Ember month patrol has been stepped up.
2.Security at the state’s borders has been enhanced through the ongoing ‘Operation Le Won Jade’ border patrol, which began on November 6.
Adeleye noted that the intensified border patrol efforts have been successful in dislodging miscreants, bandits, and kidnappers from the forests. Furthermore, regular 24-hour patrols continue within the metropolis, yielding positive results.
The total number of arrests made in the last week stands at 34, with 16 suspects being paraded before the media.
Adeleye concluded with a firm assurance to the public: “I want to reassure residents of the state that the security agencies are ensuring that safety of lives and property in Ondo State is guaranteed.”
