Israel has intensified its military actions in southern Lebanon, signaling plans to expand ground operations following targeted strikes on key infrastructure, including bridges.

The Israeli military stated that its campaign against Hezbollah is entering a broader phase, with preparations underway for coordinated ground advances and continued airstrikes. Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir described the operation as ongoing and potentially prolonged, emphasizing that it is being carried out according to a structured plan.

Earlier, Israeli forces targeted several bridges, including one near the city of Tyre, which was seen emitting heavy smoke after being hit. According to Lebanese state media, multiple strikes on the bridge caused severe damage, rendering it unusable. Additional strikes were also reported in nearby areas.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the attacks, describing them as a serious escalation and a violation of the country’s sovereignty. He warned that targeting critical infrastructure such as bridges, particularly those over the Litani River, could signal the beginning of a larger ground invasion. He also noted that such actions risk isolating southern Lebanon from the rest of the country.

The conflict has continued to escalate since early March, with ongoing exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah. Israel has carried out extensive airstrikes and limited ground incursions, while Hezbollah has responded with rocket attacks targeting northern Israel and border regions.

Israeli authorities also reported ongoing operations aimed at dismantling what they described as Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon. In addition to bridge strikes, there were reports of demolitions of structures in border communities, as well as airstrikes in other regions, including the Bekaa Valley.

Lebanese officials have reported casualties and widespread displacement as a result of the fighting, with over a million people affected in recent weeks. Meanwhile, Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for multiple attacks on Israeli military positions, particularly in areas close to the border.

Israeli officials have maintained that the destruction of bridges and other infrastructure is intended to disrupt the movement of fighters and weapons across southern Lebanon. The Litani River, which lies roughly 30 kilometers north of the Israeli border, has been a focal point in these operations.

As tensions remain high, both sides continue to exchange fire, raising concerns about the potential for a broader and more prolonged conflict in the region.
