The governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara has stated that no sacrifice is too great for the state’s advancement, stability, and peace.

Speaking to his supporters in Port Harcourt on Saturday, June 28, Governor Fubara assured them that his actions were all taken with their best interests in mind, including the recent reconciliation with his predecessor and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.

He said that although it is bitter, everyone must accept it and move on. He acknowledged that many of his loyalists were disappointed by the peace agreement.

On the other hand, he was hopeful that the reconciliation process would soon accelerate project implementation.

In addressing the tensions that have arisen since the peace agreement, Governor Fubara stated that political history cannot be erased and acknowledged the part Wike played in his rise to power.

‘’Yes we have had our differences that led to this event but nobody here will not say they do not know the role the man played. Nobody can wish away the risk he took. At a point we had our differences and if today, there is need for us to do such, please anyone who genuinely believe in me should understand that it is the right thing to do.

Look at the projects we initiated. The roads. They have been abandoned. Look at other things that were initiated. By now I know where we are supposed to be. We know the progress we should have recorded. We know areas we would have developed. So there is need for this peace. That is the truth!

It is bitter but we must accept the situation and move on with it”
