Ace Nigerian rapper Erigga has weighed in on the ongoing feud between Odumodublvck and Blaqbonez, saying the clash is hurting the country’s hip-hop culture rather than helping it.
In a recent interview with Yanga FM Lagos, the Paper Boi crooner explained that the rift has created unnecessary tension within the rap community, pushing other artists to take sides.
Erigga also blamed fans for fueling the conflict, saying many of them enjoy seeing artists at odds instead of supporting unity in the industry.
“Nigerian fans love it when rappers fight. The ongoing beef between Odumodublvck and Blaqbonez is bad for the culture because it allows outsiders who don’t truly care about hip-hop to throw in their wild opinions,” he said.
He added that while rap battles are part of hip-hop tradition, constant beefs rarely bring any lasting benefit to the culture.
“Beef might attract attention, but it doesn’t help the music scene. Both Odumodublvck and Blaqbonez are my close colleagues, so the atmosphere feels tense right now. People are hyping their fight not because they love hip-hop, but because they enjoy drama. When last did you see them celebrating real hip-hop wins? This issue has gone beyond a simple rap beef.”
Erigga concluded by emphasizing that although rivalry can spark creativity, prolonged disputes often do more harm than good to Nigerian hip-hop.
