Joachim Low has set the record straight and has replied to reports of him taking over as the head coach of Ghana ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Joachim Löw has moved to quash rumours linking him with a sensational return to international management, dismissing reports that he is in advanced discussions to take charge of Ghana ahead of this summer’s World Cup schedule for June 2026.

“No one from Ghana has officially spoken to me,” the 66-year-old told Sky Sport, directly contradicting a report from a Ghanaian football outlet which claimed negotiations between the former Germany boss and the country’s football association were already underway and progressing positively. The report had even suggested Löw was showing genuine enthusiasm for the prospect.

Ghana find themselves without a head coach after parting ways with Otto Addo following a 2–1 friendly defeat to Germany, leaving the Black Stars scrambling for leadership with the tournament fast approaching.

Löw, who masterminded Germany’s 2014 World Cup triumph in Brazil, has been without a club or international post since leaving the DFB setup roughly five years ago.

Despite the extended absence from the dugout, the veteran coach has made clear he has no intention of walking away from the game permanently. “I don’t want to retire if there’s another interesting offer,” he said recently, adding that national team roles would naturally suit his profile given his long track record at that level.

Ghana are set to feature in a competitive World Cup group alongside England, Croatia and Panama when the tournament gets underway across the United States, Mexico and Canada, running from 11 June to 19 July.
