Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has safely arrived in Abuja, Nigeria, after being evacuated from Guinea-Bissau in the wake of a military coup.

He landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. On Thursday evening, November 27.

Jonathan, who led the West African Elders Forum Election Observation Mission, had been in the country monitoring last Sunday’s presidential and legislative elections before the military announced it had seized power. There have been apprehension amongst Nigerians about the safety of the former president.
