A heartbreaking story has surfaced online after an X user raised alarm over the alleged r@pe and murd$r of a young woman named Ugochi in Obigbo, Port Harcourt.
According to the user, Ugochi was found d3ad in her room earlier this week, and the few people who lived in the same compound allegedly fled afterwards. The case is currently being handled at Obigbo Police Station, and her body has reportedly been placed in the mortuary.
The poster explained that Ugochi and her sisters are orphans with no family members powerful enough to defend or pursue justice on their behalf. She appealed to Nigerians to help amplify the case so that it does not “get swept under the rug.”
However, the situation has sparked even more concern as the user claims the police are preparing to release one of the suspects in custody, allegedly following pressure from the landlord’s lawyer.
Calling out the officers involved by name, she pleaded with Nigerians to tag the Rivers State Police Command, influencers, activists and authorities who can help ensure that the investigation is not abandoned.
Her post reads in part:
“We are heartbroken. It’s unending tears and agony.
Please help our voices get amplified.
Ugochi has nobody. Please help us get justice.”
The state police spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident and said that one person has been arrested.
