Juventus Face Fresh UEFA Investigation Into Irregular Financial Activities

Juventus are under investigation once again by UEFA for irregular financial activities reportedly practiced by the club.

Serie A giants, Juventus are once again facing scrutiny from UEFA, which has launched a new investigation into alleged financial misconduct spanning the years 2022 to 2025.

According to The Athletic, the inquiry will examine whether the Turin club breached UEFA’s financial sustainability regulations by surpassing the permitted loss threshold of €60 million (£50m/$65m), a limit which can rise to €90 million (£76m/$98m) if a club can prove sound financial management.

This development comes less than a year after Juventus returned to European competition following a one-year UEFA ban for previous financial violations. The findings of this latest probe are expected by spring 2026, with possible penalties ranging from monetary fines to restrictions on squad registration for UEFA tournaments.

In an official statement, Juventus acknowledged being aware of the proceedings and attempted to play down the situation. However, sources close to the club suggest increasing anxiety behind the scenes, especially with a crucial shareholders’ meeting scheduled for November 7, 2025, the same day CEO Maurizio Scanavino is expected to step down after three years at the helm.

The investigation threatens to undo the progress Juventus have made in rebuilding its reputation after a turbulent period of sanctions. In 2023, UEFA fined the club €20 million (£17m/$22m) for irregularities linked to licensing and Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules. Half of that penalty was suspended pending compliance reviews for 2023, 2024, and 2025, the very seasons now being examined.

Juventus have also faced domestic punishment from Italy’s football authorities. The FIGC docked the club 10 Serie A points in 2023 for alleged false accounting and the artificial inflation of player transfer values. Although the initial deduction of 15 points was reduced on appeal, the incident significantly tarnished the club’s public image.

Despite the mounting controversies, Juventus’ leadership continues to insist that the club is fully compliant with FFP standards. Executives point to recent cost-cutting measures, player sales, and wage reductions as part of a broader effort to stabilise finances and ensure long-term sustainability. Nevertheless, UEFA’s renewed attention indicates that doubts remain about whether those corrective steps have gone far enough.
