A Keke Napep rider was lynched on Wednesday evening, April 19, shortly after he stabbed a young man named Douglas Joseph to death in Yenizue-Epie community of Yenagoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.

Douglas Joseph, 30, was a native of the community and a father of three.

An eye witness who narrated the incident to DailyPost said: “He said he was coming from Opolo community to Kpansia which was supposed to be N100, but the Keke rider insisted on collecting N150.

“As we were separating them, we saw the Keke rider bring out a dagger. We thought it was just to scare the youth. But he stabbed him on his lap and the young man fell to the ground. People prevented the Keke rider from running away. Unfortunately, his wounded victim died.

Following his death, the Keke rider was lynched by a mob that hit him with different objects.”

Reacting to the incident, the Bayelsa State Police Command, said it has deployed its Anti Riot Squad to restore normalcy at Kpansia and its environs over the unfortunate murder of a community youth by a tricycle rider.
