Speaking to Daily Trust on Tuesday, December 5, the wife of the chief, Aisha Peter, who was released two days later in order to raise a ransom of N100m, said her husband was beaten to a stupor by his abductors over her failure to raise the amount as she only rallied and raised N8m.

“I called them over the phone this morning to inform them that I only managed to raise N8m, and when I demanded to talk to him, it was our 14-year-old daughter that was able to speak and she told me that my husband could not speak as a result of the beating,” she explained.
