A woman described as an “IJGB”, a person who lives abroad and just arrived Nigeria, has sparked debate online after sharing a video criticising her experience in Lagos during the popular “Detty December” period.

In the video, the woman alleged that the city has persistent sanitation issues, claiming that “everything smells,” including public spaces, ride-hailing vehicles, and even people. She warned others abroad against travelling to Lagos for the festive season, describing the environment as unpleasant.

She also complained about traffic congestion in the city, saying it worsened her overall experience. According to her, gridlock often causes events to start late and makes commuting stressful and exhausting.

“Lagos is a very smelly city. Everybody in Lagos smells. Don’t come to Lagos for Detty December,” she said in the video.

Her comments have triggered mixed reactions on social media, with some users agreeing with her observations about traffic and infrastructure challenges, while others criticised her remarks as exaggerated and unfair to residents of Lagos.
