Controversial activist, VeryDarkMan (VDM), has stirred debate online after suggesting that Lagos should be separated from Nigeria and made into its own country.
In a trending video, VDM argued that Lagos has become a burden on the nation, monopolizing industries, ports, and economic activities at the expense of other regions. He claimed that if other states had functional ports and industries, goods and services would be more affordable across the country.
“I think Lagos is slowing the growth of this country, it should be made a country of its own. Big industries and everything lands in Lagos, imagine if other regions have Ports, everything will be cheaper. Lagos is milking other states,” VDM said.
His remarks have sparked mixed reactions, with some agreeing that Nigeria’s over-reliance on Lagos is unhealthy for balanced development, while others criticized the idea as unrealistic and divisive.
