Jerome Akor has talked up his winning goal for Sevilla against Rayo Vallecano, NEWSUNPLUG reports.
Akor rose from the bench to score decisive goal for the Rojiblancos in the 1-0 win at the Campo de Fútbol de Valllecas.
The 24-year-old fired home from inside the box three minutes from time.
It was the former Nigeria junior international’s first goal of the season for Sevilla.
Akor said his side never gave up despite persistent pressure from the hosts.
“I had the opportunity to come on, I was prepared and working hard, and I’m very grateful for the opportunity. We didn’t give up,” Akor told the club’s official website.
Matias Almeyda’s side will host holders Barcelona in their next league game this weekend.
