Atlético Madrid are not happy with the manner the Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle handled Ademola Lookman during the international break.

The club, according to AS, raised concerns about how Lookman was managed, especially after his appearances in the two international friendly matches.

The Spanish club is reported to be dissatisfied with Lookman’s significant playing time in Nigeria’s matches against Jordan and Iran, where the forward played a total of 180 minutes in both games.

Lookman, who moved to the Rojiblancos from Atalanta during the winter transfer window, played a key role for the Super Eagles.

He played the full 90 minutes in Nigeria’s 2-1 win against Iran and also played the entire match in the 2-2 draw against Jordan, which took place in Antalya, Turkey.

AS reports that Atletico Madrid view the decision to field the attacker for the full duration of both friendlies as excessive, particularly given the non-competitive nature of the matches.

The Nigerian player has been performing very well since joining Spanish outfit, scoring five goals and providing four assists in 14 matches in La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Champions League.

Atletico Madrid are thought to be focused on carefully handling his workload as the season becomes more pressing.

The club is worried that the long hours he played in international matches might lead to tiredness and a higher chance of getting injured, which could hurt their chances of winning trophies in different competitions.
