Reality TV star Leo Dasilva has publicly confronted a social media troll who attempted to belittle his wife, Maryam Laushi Dasilva, by claiming that her relevance and success were solely derived from their marriage.
The confrontation began when a user, @neyenwa38, directed multiple insulting comments at Maryam on X (formerly Twitter), suggesting that she was only “relevant because of your husband” and that he “empowered” her.
Maryam initially dismissed the attack, but addressed the claim that she would “probably be somewhere in the north selling kunu” if she wasn’t married to Leo:
“I will sell kunu if it’s profitable 😂 my money is long, don’t worry yourself. My husband is at least notable, where is your relevant husband? Let’s leave my father’s properties before you curse yourself 😂 Like I said, childish secondary school nonsense on display. Goodnight”
Responding to the sustained attacks and the user’s attempt to erase his wife’s independent achievements, Leo Dasilva stepped in with a strong defense ofMaryam, listing her credentials and accomplishments:
“You’re actually dangerously insane trying belittle my wife. She has 2 masters degree! She will be employed till she chooses not to be! She always had her own voice even before she got married to me! She was already working when I met her. She is more than enough for me.”
Leo emphasized his pride in her intellectual and professional success, even joking about his own online performance compared to hers:
“My Google results are not as impressive as my wife’s own. She has put in a lot of work in the civil space, corporate space and family space. Na all rounder. I am always proud of her and her work. We are grateful to God for his blessings. If you are jealous, Ogun go k!ll you.”
The reality star’s emphatic defense of his wife has drawn praise online for highlighting the importance of respecting women’s individual careers and education, regardless of their marital status.
