Nigerian rapper and music executive M.I Abaga has shared his thoughts on where he would like to raise his future children, saying he prefers Nigeria because of its strong family values and communal lifestyle.
In a recent interview, the award-winning artist explained that the supportive nature of Nigerian society makes it an ideal place for parenting. He noted that raising children is often easier in Nigeria since relatives and community members are usually available to lend a hand.
“There’s something special about home we’re part of a system that naturally supports each other,” M.I said. “It’s tough for parents everywhere, but here, if you have family, you have people who can step in and help. That support makes a big difference.”
Comparing life in Nigeria to Western countries, particularly the United States, he pointed out that many parents abroad struggle with limited family support due to demanding work schedules and individualistic lifestyles.
While acknowledging the benefits of raising children overseas, M.I emphasized that Nigeria offers a strong foundation for kids to connect with their roots and cultural heritage before experiencing life abroad.
Although he mentioned that he’s not actively planning for a family yet, the rapper maintained that Nigeria’s sense of togetherness remains one of its biggest strengths when it comes to raising children.
