A 35-year-old man identified as Abdularazak Abdulkadir, has allegedly st@bbed his biological mother to d3ath in Kano State.

The tragic incident, which has sparked off outrage across the metropolis, happened in the early hours of Saturday, November 22, 2025 at their residence on No 55 Freetown Street in the Sabon – Gari Area of the state.

Witnesses told Daily Sun that the 55-year-old woman identified as Fatima Abdulkadir, was stabbed severally by her own son before neighbors could arrive.

Police sources also told Daily Sun that when they arrived at the scene of the crime, the suspect had st@bbed the mother on her stomach over a yet to be determined disagreement.

Police sources said that when they arrived at the scene of the crime, the suspect had st@bbed the mother on her stomach over a yet to determined disagreement.

“He had equally stabbed himself in a safer part of his body and was found lying in the pool of her blood and his own blood. They were both rushed to the Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital, Kano where the woman was confirmed d3ad by the medical doctors” said the police source.

The deceased family was later invited to retrieve her corpse from the hospital, while the suspect was treated for  his wounds,  subsequently arrested by the police and moved to the Homicide unit of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Police Command.

Family sources told the publication that the deceased had since been buried in the state capital according to Islamic rites, adding that the suspect was in the habit of consumption of illicit drugs, especially a stronger cannabis sativa called “colos”.

It was gathered that the suspect has been largely uncooperative to investigating officers and has been unable to offer any concrete insight as to the reason behind his action.

“This seems like a drug- induced homicide. The m8rder could also be a cult- related spell. Till this moment, he has been behaving like a demented fellow and we may first take him to the hospital for further checks before taking him to court,” said a police source who is familiar with the ongoing  investigation.

The spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed the incident said that once the investigations were concluded, the suspect would be charged to court.
