Man arrested for m8rder of 5-year-old boy in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old man, Isiaka Hassan, for the gruesome m8rder of a five-year-old boy, Abba Bashiru, in Tingno, Lamurde Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesperson of the command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, August 31, 2025 said the incident came to light after the victim’s mother, Hadiza Bashiru, reported her son missing.

According to the PPRO, she informed the police that her son was last seen with the suspect.

Acting swiftly on the report, police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer in Tingno arrested Hassan.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to conspiring with an accomplice who remains at large to k!ll the child and bury him in a shallow grave.

“On 30/08/2025, the Adamawa State Police Command received a report from Hadiza Bashiru of Tingno, Lamurde LGA, that her 5-year-old son, Abba Bashiru, was missing and was last seen with one Isiaka Hassan,” the statement read.

“On the strength of that, the command’s operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer, Tingno, swiftly led an operation and arrested the said Isiaka Hassan, who during interrogation confessed to having conspired with one yet to be arrested to k!ll the boy and bury him in a shallow grave. The corpse was exhumed and taken to Hospital for autopsy.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris Psc(+), has directed the State CID to take over the case and ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspect.

“The Command reassures members of the public of its commitment to ensure justice is served and calls for continued cooperation in the fight against violent crime across the State.”
