A 28-year-old man, Yakubu Yusuf, was arrested early Monday morning for allegedly vandalizing aluminium railings on a bridge near the Old School of Nursing, heading towards the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

Officers from the Onikan Police Division apprehended Yusuf following a tip-off received by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at around 6:42 a.m., alerting them to a group of individuals vandalizing the bridge’s railings.

In response, the DPO led the division’s anti-crime patrol team to the scene, where Yusuf was caught in the act. Police recovered 21 long pieces of aluminum railings at the site. However, other members of the group managed to escape before authorities could apprehend them.

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that an investigation is ongoing to capture the fleeing suspects. The command also reassured the public of its dedication to protecting public infrastructure and maintaining security across the state.
