The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon, April 11, 2023, at Rumuigbo Junction area of Obio-Akpor.

It was gathered that the man, believed to be in his early 60s, was walking by the roadside when he suddenly fell on the walkway.

A source who gave her name as Grace, told Vanguard that when the man fell, he struggled for a while to stand up but couldn’t.

According to the witness, passersby who gathered around the man were only taking pictures instead of helping him.

“This afternoon, the man was walking by the roadside. Later he fell down. Some people gathered around him. He was struggling to stand up but couldn’t. He later died,” she explained.

“Nobody knew him. People were afraid to touch him because if police come now they may arrest you for questioning. So nobody wanted problem. The man died there.”

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the incident said that the command has ordered investigation into the death.
