Manchester United have decided not to appeal after it emerged that Grimsby Town fielded an ineligible player in their Carabao Cup round two tie last month.

The League Two side won the game 12-11 on penalties at Blundell Park, after the match ended 2-2 in normal time.

Clarke Oduor was ineligible for the fixture, having been registered at 12:01 pm on the day before the match, missing the deadline by just one minute.

Despite this, Oduor was introduced in the 73rd minute to replace George McEachran, with Grimsby leading 2-0. Coincidentally, he was the only Grimsby player to miss during the penalty shootout.

The EFL have fined the Mariners £20,000, with £10,000 of that sum suspended until the end of the 2025/2026 season.

According to Daily Mail Sport, United have chosen not to escalate the matter further.
