Manchester United advanced to the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League after a dramatic 5-4 aggregate victory over Lyon.

Ruben Amorim’s side appeared to be in full control early on, establishing a two-goal advantage by half-time in the second leg at Old Trafford.

However, defensive lapses saw United concede twice in six minutes shortly after the restart, dragging the tie into extra time.

Lyon then struck first in the added period, scoring in the 104th minute before Alexander Lacazette converted from the spot to put the French side 4-2 up on the night and ahead on aggregate.

United responded swiftly. Three goals in six minutes turned the tie on its head, with Harry Maguire netting the decisive goal in stoppage time to complete the turnaround and secure progression to the semi-finals.
