Manchester United have reportedly sacked manager Ruben Amorim following a breakdown in his relationship with the club’s hierarchy.

According to Mirror, the decision comes a day after United’s 1–1 draw with Leeds, where Amorim openly expressed

frustration during his post-match press conference, insisting he was hired as manager, not just a coach.
According to reports, the comments did not sit well with the board, leading to his dismissal after 14 months in charge. Darren Fletcher is expected to oversee the team on an interim basis ahead of their next league fixture.

Amorim was appointed in November 2024 as Erik ten Hag’s replacement but struggled to steady the club. United finished 15th last season and also lost the Europa League final to Tottenham. His final game was the draw at Elland Road.

In his last press appearance, Amorim stated that his role was meant to cover broader football decisions beyond the touchline and hinted that the club needed structural changes if it wanted progress.

United currently sit sixth in the Premier League. The club is yet to issue an official statement.
