Real Madrid legend, Marcelo, has admitted he “wanted to hit” Lionel Messi after being “made a fool of” by the Barcelona superstar in Clasico clashes.

Only a few forwards got the better of Marcelo over the course of his career.

Across 15 seasons with Los Blancos, the Brazilian made 546 appearances and won six LaLiga titles and five Champions League crowns.

Marcelo’s trophy haul would probably have been even greater were it not for Messi and Co at Camp Nou.

Messi tormented Real on a regular basis, while becoming Barcelona’s all-time leading goalscorer, and posed Marcelo with plenty of challenges that he would rather forget.

Marcelo told La Revuelta: “I appreciate him a lot. He’s a crack, he’s incredible.

“I thought you were going to show me the videos in which he made a fool of me!

“I didn’t even see him pass me. He was very fast. But no problem, I was born in a place where dribbling is the best, not being dribbled.”
