Mikel Arteta has given an update on Arsenal’s plan ahead of the January transfer window, admitting the club will remain alert to opportunities as the season progresses.

The Gunners invested heavily in the 2025 summer window where they invested in the key areas where a replacement waa neede. Arsenal manager has stressed that the unpredictable nature of injuries and fixture congestion means the club cannot afford to be passive when the window opens.

What did Arteta say about Arsenal’s plan in January transfer window?

He said,

We will be actively looking to strengthen the squad in January. Depending on the availability of certain players, the window is there, I mean, we’re Arsenal and we have to be looking at it. Our job is to be very prepared because something can happen”.

Arteta explained that Arsenal’s approach will be shaped by necessity rather than impulse. He acknowledged that the squad is not the biggest compared to some of their title rivals, and with players already facing fitness issues, reinforcements could become essential.

Arteta also highlighted the importance of maintaining balance within the squad rather than making signings for the sake of it, Arsenal will prioritise quality and suitability to their long-term project. However, he reiterated that January windows are often complex, with limited options and inflated prices, meaning the club must be smart and strategic in its dealings.
