Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has opened up on Eberechi Eze’s current situation at the club, addressing recent questions surrounding the midfielder’s role, performances, and minutes on the pitch.
Arteta made it clear that Eze’s recent changes in game time are part of tactical decisions rather than any underlying issue. The Spaniard notably substituted Eze at half-time during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Brentford, a move that sparked speculation among supporters.
However, Arteta quickly clarified that the decision was purely tactical. According to the Arsenal boss, adjustments were needed to influence the game differently, and the substitution was not injury-related nor a reflection of dissatisfaction with the player.
He said,
“Eze is already playing a big role. He’s played a lot of games for us and he will continue to. Those players need those moments and especially when we talk about the creative players, they need to feel that they are producing those moments”.
Arteta emphasized that squad rotation has become essential due to the demanding schedule. With Arsenal competing strongly on multiple fronts, managing player workload remains a priority.
He reiterated that every player, including Eze, must stay ready and seize opportunities when they arise. The manager highlighted the importance of maintaining high standards in training, insisting that selection is based on performance levels and tactical suitability.
