Former Big Brother Naija star, Aderombi Adedayo Martin, popularly known as Deeone, has sparked controversy after drawing a comparison between the weddings of singer Mr Eazi and Temi Otedola, and that of Davido and Chioma.
In a video shared on Instagram, the comedian claimed that Mr Eazi’s wedding to billionaire daughter Temi Otedola was far more expensive than Davido’s. According to him, the ceremony reportedly cost close to $14 million and was hosted across three countries Monaco, Dubai, and Iceland.
He contrasted this with Davido and Chioma’s Miami wedding, which he estimated to be worth around $6 million. Deeone further stressed that the Otedola-Ajibade union attracted top dignitaries, including Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, and BUA Cement founder, Abdul Samad Rabiu.
While acknowledging that the Adeleke family is wealthy, Deeone insisted they cannot match the financial influence of the Otedolas or Mr Eazi’s family.
Taking a jab at Davido’s associates, particularly nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chiefpriest, Deeone mocked those who once bragged with slogans like “Money na Water” but have now remained silent in the face of greater affluence.
He urged Nigerians to freely express their opinions on both weddings, since the events were made public, and concluded by advising people not to compare themselves to others, reminding them that levels of wealth are never the same.
“Where some people’s money ends, another person’s money begins.”
